Amarasate: The Supplement for Weight Loss That Actually Works

If you’ve been trying to lose weight but haven’t had much success so far, you’re probably wondering – what do I do next?

What is Amarasate and How Does It Help With Weight Loss?

Amarasate is a naturally occurring extract from bitter hops grown in New Zealand. Amarasate works with your body’s natural mechanisms and signals, making it a safer and more natural option than other weight loss drugs on the market.

Amarasate causes weight loss by stimulating the “bitter” receptors in your gut. When this happens, these receptors naturally release a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). This hormone sends a signal to your brain to reduce hunger and stop food cravings. GLP-1 also slows down the emptying of the stomach, helping you feel full for longer. 

These effects are similar to the ones of popular weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro, which belong to a class of medications called GLP-1 agonists. They work in a similar way by giving your body more GLP-1. But instead of encouraging your body to make more of its own GLP-1, you’re instead receiving a man-made version of it.

How Does Amarasate Compare to Prescription Weight Loss Drugs?

Prescription weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro have gained popularity for their ability to help people lose body weight and body fat. However, these drugs are expensive and come with a number of harmful side effects

Instead, Amarasate is a natural, effective supplement without the high price. The effectiveness of Amarasate lies in its ability to help your body release GLP-1.

Because of how new these prescription weight loss drugs are, research comparing them to Amarasate is limited. However, several studies have shown the effectiveness of Amarasate when it comes to weight loss, appetite reduction, and decreased food cravings.

A study done in 2019 showed that Amarasate was an effective appetite suppressant

Another study completed in 2023 found that those who took Amarasate had a 25-30% reduction in hunger and an 18% reduction in total calorie intake.³

These studies, along with results from my patients, show that Amarasate is effective for weight loss.

What is the Recommended Dosage for Amarasate?

To get the best results with Amarasate, you should take it on an empty stomach before eating. And when you first start Amarasate, the dose has to be slowly increased.

You should take Amarasate at least one hour before meals. When you first start taking Amarasate, here’s how you should do it: 

  • Days 1-2: Take one capsule daily
  • Days 3-4: Take one capsule twice daily
  • Day 5+: Take two capsules twice daily
  • Maximum dosage: Four capsules daily for optimal results

Can I Combine Amarasate With Other Dietary Supplements For Weight Loss?

Amarasate works even better when taken with other dietary supplements. Here are a few of the best supplements I recommend and have seen my patients have great results from.

Probiotics 

One addition to your weight loss tool box I recommend is a probiotic. Probiotics are supplements that contain good bacteria that live in our gut. 

Many people have imbalanced levels of bacteria in their gut, and this can cause numerous health problems – including difficulty losing weight. 

A healthy gut plays a huge role in weight loss. This is because you need to have enough healthy bacteria in your gut to be able to digest your food, absorb nutrients, and burn fat efficiently. Good bacteria in your gut help to make many different compounds to help improve metabolism, which is important when it comes to energy levels, weight, and body composition.

Atrantil is a great spore probiotic with added beneficial fiber. It helps to create the perfect environment for gut bacteria to thrive which can help with weight loss and metabolism. Akkermansia probiotic by Pendulum is another of my favorites.

Creatine

Creatine is another supplement I often have patients take with Amarasate. Creatine is known for helping athletes increase muscle mass and strength. It does this by helping the body move energy around more efficiently.⁴ You should note that it’s much different than the effects of caffeine.

Your body needs fuel to burn fat which requires your cells to be energized. By adding a creatine supplement, your cells have more energy and can burn fat efficiently. 

Creatine is also known to help improve the function of the brain – the highest consumer of energy in our body.⁵

What Types of Foods Should I Eat While Taking Amarasate?

When it comes to sustained weight loss, diet is a big piece of the puzzle. The most important thing you can eat while on a calorie restricted diet of any kind is protein

The older you get, the more protein you need to gain or even keep your muscle. 

For younger adults, aim to eat 25-35 grams of protein at your first meal of the day. For adults over 50 years, I recommend increasing protein intake to 45-55 grams per meal. These amounts of protein will help you build and maintain muscle mass – which is important to preserve while losing weight. 

Another type of food I recommend prioritizing in your diet is fiber. Fiber is your friend! Dietary fiber helps to feed your gut bacteria, which is important for weight loss and overall health. 

If we feed and nurture the healthy bacteria in our gut, our bodies can produce many of the compounds needed to boost metabolism and burn fat. So many of these fancy fiber supplement lines you see in anti-ageing ads are compounds your gut microbiome can produce if you take care of them.

When it comes to fiber, you should aim for 30-40 grams a day. If you’ve had a low fiber intake for a while, you should increase your fiber intake slowly to avoid bloating or constipation.

Can Amarasate Help with Intermittent Fasting?

Intermittent fasting is one of my favorite strategies for long-term weight loss and helping your overall health and metabolism. Intermittent fasting is a great way to help your body “empty out the tanks” where your body stores excess calories, and it’s been proven to work for weight loss.⁶

Intermittent fasting has also been shown to help improve or reverse medical conditions like:⁷

  • Type 2 diabetes 
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Depression

For many people, it can be difficult to stick to intermittent fasting. But Amarasate can help!

One of my favorite uses of Amarasate is to get a little more time out of fasting periods. When you’re fasting, cravings and hunger can make it difficult and quite unpleasant. However, taking Amarasate can help to curb cravings and make intermittent fasting more manageable.

Another tip I recommend to patients is to add on an extra hour in the morning or the evening. Just adding one hour onto your fast at a time can make intermittent fasting easier to achieve.

Can I Exercise While Taking Amarasate?

Along with diet, exercise has big effects on weight loss. There is quite simply nothing better you can do for your metabolism, body composition, and health than exercise.

Steady-state cardio (zone 2 cardio) is one of the best forms of exercise to help you lose weight. Zone 2 cardio is a type of exercise that’s done at a steady, low intensity. During zone 2 cardio, your heart rate should be kept at 60-70% of your maximum heart rate. Some examples of zone 2 cardio include:

  • Brisk walking
  • Light jogging
  • Cycling

Taking Amarasate along with doing 30-45 minutes of zone 2 cardio each day has helped my patients break through weight loss plateaus. 

A Plan That Actually Works for Weight Loss

When it comes to weight loss, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. No two people are the same in their genetic makeup, lifestyle, triggers, and goals. So the most successful weight loss plans are the ones that are personalized for each person. 

And yes, you could see your primary care provider or an online website to get weight loss medication like Ozempic. But more often than not, the underlying causes of obesity and metabolic issues are missed – causing major issues when you’re trying to lose weight.

Plus you’ll be left to manage your own care and weight loss plan. Without being monitored closely, you may lose muscle mass and have worsening of underlying medical conditions.
